My research is about evaluation of a chemical transport model (CTM) in all three spacial dimensions. Earlier the focus on CTM evaluations has been done with ground based observations, but we need to set higher demands on the CTMs and then also study the performance in the vertical. Therefore I use satellite data from NASA's A-train satellites to see how the CTM MATCH, belonging to the Swedish Meteorological and Hydrological Institute (SMHI), simulates different trace gases and particles. This evaluation will then result in an attempt to make MATCH better through data assimilation in order to expand the use of the model into Earth system modelling.
